Join us for an intimate fireside chat with Dr. Marc Lamont Hill, award-winning journalist, best-selling author, professor, and one of today’s most influential public intellectuals. Known for his sharp insight and powerful storytelling, Dr. Hill hosts BET News, TheGrio, Al Jazeera’s UpFront, and the Coffee & Books podcast. From grassroots activism to global solidarity, Dr. Hill’s work has always centered the question: how do we honor the past while building a freer future?
In this timely conversation, moderated live from Freedmen’s Town, Dr. Hill will explore what it means to build on legacy and turn our history of struggle and survival into strategy and sustainable change. Together, we’ll reflect on the role of education, storytelling, and community in shaping the next 160 years of Black freedom.

The Houston Freedmen’s Town Conservancy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that protects and preserves the history of Freedmen’s Town for the benefit of future generations. We support community engagement, re-education, and heritage tourism.
