An immersive educational discussion on the legacy of Freedmen’s Town across the nation.
Porch Talk is a program series that aims to provide an immersive educational
experience through various events including panel discussions, seminars, book and film
dialogue, symposiums, and artistic expressions. This panel discussion From Freedom to Foundation aims to shed light on the untold stories of Texas’s Freedmen’s Towns, honoring their contributions to the state’s cultural and historical landscape. These communities, established by formerly enslaved African Americans after the Civil War are a testament to resilience, determination, and cultural brilliance.
Engage with experts, share in the dialogue, and gain a deeper understanding of these remarkable communities’ roots of liberation.
